A Birthday Fit for a King
After two days of birthday fun, I decided there were way too many pics to share so I created a slideshow so as not to exclude anything.
Matthew awoke on Friday to a myriad of Happy Birthday songs. I read him the entry on the blog and cried as we watched his first year video together. He loved it!! We dressed him in his birthday outfit and took him to daycare with a dozen cupcakes in tow. I will have to share the pictures of him eating his cupcake once I receive them from the daycare.
Jim and I picked Matthew and Dominic up at lunchtime and took them to McClintocks. Matthew enjoyed a little bit of everyone's lunch before he was serenaded by the staff. He also enjoyed eating his ice cream sundae. Matthew returned home with Jim for a nap while Dominic and I ventured out to the party store for a few balloons. I don't know what it is about babies and balloons but they inspire a very cute reaction. Matthew finished the day with a chocolate frosted cake and hit the sack to prepare for his big birthday bash on Saturday.
Despite the fact that several people were not able to attend the party, Matthew enjoyed himself. We had hot dogs with the whole fixins, and Matthew LOVED his little cake. Mommy enjoyed opening all of his gifts while he played with the wrapping paper. What more would you expect from a one year old? Unfortunately, the last gift of the day was a 102 degree fever and the onset of a cold.
Thank you for a year of memories Matty. I look forward to watching you grow and celebrate many more birthdays.
